Planning For My Grand Daughter

What kind of life would you like your granddaughter to live?

She’ll make her own, of course, but I’ve found thinking about what I want for future generation helps me prioritize in my own life.

As for mine, I hope she’s wise, and kind. I hope her youthful spirit stays alive and isn’t crushed (at least for too long) by the world. I hope she knows how to resurrect it when it does.

I hope she’s faithful and optimistic. I hope she skips through shopping centers. I hope she trusts herself, because life is easier when you do, and delivers the gifts and messages she came in with, with confidence.

I hope she sees suffering (hers and the worlds’) through the eyes of a powerful and loving God and doesn’t struggle for too long before she experiences a flicker of curiosity, the relief of learning and the peace of understanding.

I hope she knows she can always count on me for guidance, love, acceptance and that she too, will think about those who’ll come after.

I want my grand daughters to thrive. And sometimes, I find it’s helpful to remind myself, my grandmothers wanted the same for me.
